VMware Workstation跟「Virtual PC」等軟體一樣，都是用來在自己的PC上模擬出第二個、第三個以上的新電腦作業環境，讓一般使用者可以在同一台電腦中，同時執行、操作多個作業系統，而不用一次買好幾台電腦來用。
